Troop 303 Swansea

Proud to be an American Legion Boy Scout Troop

Pack 303 - What We Are

If you are not yet old enough to join Boy Scout Troop 303, fear not! For all those younger than 11 who would still like a lot of the experiences the older boys get, you can join Cub Scouts!

Cub Scout Pack 303 is a pack located in Swansea, and like Troop 303, is hosted at the American Legion Post 303.  When you have completed your Cub Scout adventure, you can move up and join Troop 303 if you would like to continue your American Legion BSA Scouting experience. You are not required to join Troop 303 after Pack 303; you can elect to join whatever troop you would like (but why would you want to? ).

Pack 303 can boast very personalized attention to all of their cub scouts, with a parent to scout ratio close to 1:1 (Parents are required to accompany their child(ren) to the meetings). If the cubs have a sibling that is not in Cub Scouts, and you would rather not pay a babysitter, they can surely be brought along. In fact, this happens regularly. Also, Pack 303 regularly participates in American Legion events, such as Flag Placement on veterans graves, and marching in the Memorial Day Parade with Troop 303!

Cub Scout Pack 303 is a pack located in Swansea, just like Troop 303. In fact, Pack 303 is Troop 303's feeder pack, meaning when you have completed your Cub Scout adventure, you can join Troop 303 if you would like to continue the Scouting experience. You are not required to join Troop 303 after Pack 303; you can elect to join whatever troop you would like (but why would you want to? ?).

The schedule for the meetings are one hour den meetings each week, three weeks out of the month. The fourth week of the month, there is a pack meeting that lasts from 1 hour to 1½ hours.

Camped overnight on the Paw Sox field after a day of fun.
Gone to the Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro to learn about different animals.

  • Camped overnight on the Paw Sox field after a day of fun.
  • Gone to the Capron Park Zoo in Attleboro to learn about different animals, and slept overnight in the nocturnal animals house!
  • Slept overnight at the Museum Of Science in Boston, after a full day of exploring and learning about science!
  • Had a soggy campout with Troop 303 and learned about 'geocaching', an outdoor treasure hunting adventure that you can do all over the world!
  • Volunteered and had a 'Camping Day' at Country Gardens Nursing Home in Swansea, where we set up tents, played Bingo, and made s'mores with the residents.
  • Pinewood Derby - we built wooden cars and raced our way to the the district races.
  • 'Slept with the fishes' at Mystic Aquarium!  Had a great overnight and learned lots of exciting things about beluga whales, sea lions and other aquatic animals.
  • Pack 303 also got an award for selling the most popcorn in the district during the annual popcorn drive, which gives 40% of the profits back to the pack, to help pay for all the cool stuff we get to do.
Along with this short list, we do a lot of outdoor and indoor projects.  We like to help the Boy Scouts with some of their activities like placing the flags at the cemetery for Memorial Day and marching in the parade through Swansea with the Scouts and Legion members.
